Looking for a healthy snack with so much rich flavor for the kids on a hot day using only some healthy ingredients? Try making fruit popsicles! And we are not going to talk about those store-bought kind that contains high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavors usually used for fruit salads. This recipe is 100% healthy and made with only natural sweeteners.

What you’ll need:

  • Popsicle Mold
  • Whisk / Blender
  • Tropical Fruits of your choice
  • Fruit Juices
  • Honey
  • Greek Yogurt (optional)
  • Milk (optional)

This weather calls for tropical, ripe fresh fruit as a perfect snack. Meaning, all fruits we want can be found at the nearby groceries. And with that, here’s some of the best recipes we found online that you can try featuring the easiest fruits you can find on the market.

Minty Watermelon Popsicles

1.      In a blender, puree 2 ½ cups diced watermelon pieces, mint leaves, coconut water, lime juice, and honey. Cut the remaining ½ cup watermelon slices into ¼-inch cubes.

2.      Evenly divide the diced watermelon into the molds, tapping them down to the bottom.

3.      Stir the popsicle mixture then evenly divide it among the popsicle molds.

4.      Insert the popsicle sticks, if it does not stay in place use a piece of tape to hold them into place. Freeze for at least 6 hours, or overnight.

Orange Mango Coconut Popsicles

1.      Puree 3 cups mango slices, 1 ½ cup coconut milk, orange juice, and honey.

2.      Cut the remaining 1 cup mango slices into ¼-inch cubes. Evenly divide them among the popsicle molds.

3.      Add 3 tablespoons of mango coconut mixture, gently tapping mold on the counter to make sure liquid fills in the diced mango spaces.

4.      Add 1 tablespoon of coconut milk, or until the mold is filled. Insert the popsicle sticks and then freeze for at least 6 hours, or overnight.

1.      Stack your chosen tropical fruits into the popsicle mold (no need to blend them)

2.      After stacking your fruits, get your liquid ready and pour it into the popsicle mold

3.      Insert the popsicle sticks and freeze for at least 6 hours, or overnight.

Healthy Smoothie Bowls

Have you been into any beach lately? If yes, you might have heard of the trending snack most people crave there. No need to go to Boracay, Siargao, or Bali Indonesia as you can do this at your own home. Plus, this is very healthy and can also be a snack after your intense workout.

What you’ll need:

  • Blender (a must!)
  • Frozen fruits (dragon fruit, banana, mango, mixed berries, avocado)
  • Honey
  • Non-dairy milk
  • Green Frozen Yogurt (optional)
  • Toppings (coconut flake, granola, chia seeds, hemp seeds, peanut butter, sliced fruit of your choice)
  • Protein powder (optional)

Classic Smoothie Bowl

1.      Put frozen dragon fruit, banana, mango, and mixed berries like fresh strawberries in the blender and blend it all together. For more sweetness, add just a touch of honey or maple syrup. (Optional, you may also put green yogurt for extra flavour)

2.      After blending, pour it in your bowl and add toppings of your choices like nuts and sweetened chips for a crunchy texture.

Buko Pandan is out, Mango Sago is in! This is the newest dish you’ll find at Filipino events. This dessert is sweet, tangy and creamy and is perfect not only for summer but for all occasions. Plus, it’s easy to make!

What you’ll need:

  • Ripe mangoes — one you’ll puree and the others you’ll dice
  • Sago or tapioca pearls
  • Evaporated milk
  • Table cream
  • Condensed milk

1.      In a large pot over medium heat, bring water to a boil. Add tapioca pearls and cook, stirring regularly, for about 7 to 10 minutes. Turn off heat and cover. Let tapioca pearls stand in hot water until translucent and cooked through. In a colander, rinse cooked sago under cold running water to remove excess starch. Drain well and let cool completely. This would be about 1 cup cooked sago.

2.      Peel mangoes and cut flesh from pits. Cube the flesh of four mangoes. Dice the flesh of the remaining 1 mango and set aside to use as garnish.

3.      In a blender or food processor, combine cubed mango flesh from the 4 mangoes, evaporated milk and sugar. Process until smooth and thick.

4.      Combine mango puree and sago.  Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

5.      Divide mango sago into serving bowls and garnish with diced mangoes. Serve immediately and enjoy so much flavor from your snacks.

Ice Scramble

Let’s bring Ice Scramble or “Iskrambol” into our own home and make it! This classic cold snack is such a fun, colorful and delicious snack that any child and adult would want a cup of it. You can make it more special by adding unconventional ingredients like sweet potatoes, crushed chocolate chips and cream cheese. Instead of finding it in the streets or finding a small shop that sells it, why not try to make it on our home so that we can customize it the way we like it, right?

What you’ll need:

  • 4 cups shaved ice
  • 1 cup skim powdered milk
  • ¼ cup wash sugar
  • ½ tsp banana extract
  • A drops of red/pink food color gel
  • ¼ cup skim powdered milk
  • ¼ cup colored mini-marshmallows
  • 1 tbsp. colored sprinkles optional
  • 6 pcs. wafer sticks halves (optional)
  • 2 tbsp. chocolate syrup

1.      First, prepare crushed or shaved ice at least 1 cup more as needed.

2.      Crushed ice melts easily make sure to keep it in the freezer until needed.

3.      A perfect vessel in mixing and storing Ice Scramble is an Ice Bucket, that’s the easy and right way to do it. (Note: If you have ice bucket you are lucky, use it when preparing this.)

4.      In a mixing bowl with crushed/shaved ice, add skim milk and mix lightly but quickly as possible.

5.      Add wash sugar, banana extract and food coloring and mix until well blended.

6.      Ladle Ice Scramble into a plastic cup about half full, top with powdered milk and put another layer of ice scramble, top with powdered milk, marshmallows, sprinkles, wafer sticks and drizzle with chocolate syrup.

7.      Serve immediately with a spoon or straw.
