Welcoming the New Year 2022

2022 is right around the corner and New Year’s Eve is a festive occasion around the world, Filipinos always put their own twist when it comes to celebrations. For Filipinos, this holiday is all about lechon, family gatherings may it be in your ancestral home or your newly bought house and lot for sale, and New Year’s games. The year is about to end but the gratitude we feel is undoubted and hopeful anticipation for next year is unmatched.

Most of all, it’s the perfect time to bond with friends and family – with some even traveling thousands of miles just to celebrate at home. To make sure that each and every Filipino manages to greet the new year with peak health and happiness, we’ve made this guide exactly for that.

Global Predictions in the Year 2022

What should we expect from 2022? A survey from Ipsos covers 33 different countries and 5 different topics. In this section, we discuss the different predictions for the year 2022.

It’s been found that more than half of people believe that more than 80% of the world’s population will receive at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine by 2022. Latin Americans are highly optimistic, with figures rising to 81% in Peru, 76% in Brazil, and 69% in Chile. Europeans are more spectacle about wider vaccine distribution, where figures fall to as low as 33% in Germany.

Climate change is another serious topic that so many people have begun to cover this year. Most people around the world believe that in 2022, we will see more climate change consequences, with 60% saying that there will be more extreme weather events in 2022 than in 2021. Whether there’s any truth to this claim is yet to be seen but the average global temperature for 2022 is forecast to rise between 0.97 Celsius and 1.21 Celsius. This will be the eighth year in succession when temperatures have risen over 1.9 Celsius. It’s expected that next year will be the warmest year since 2015, the first year when global temperatures exceeded 1.0 Celsius.

Needless to say, inflation rates have been rising ever since the beginning of the year. The headline inflation in the Philippines continued to exhibit a slower pace as it eased further to 4.2 percent in November 2021, from 4.6 percent in October 2021. The average inflation from January to November 2021 remained at 4.5 percent. For comparison, inflation in November 2020 was posted at 3.3 percent.

Worldwide, however, a clear majority expect prices in their countries to increase faster than incomes. While most people around the world think this is more likely to happen, only a third of the global population expects to see stock markets around the world crashing.

71% anticipate seeing city centers in their countries become busy again as people get back to working in offices on a regular basis.  Here in the Philippines, for example, the Philippines is only beginning to start limited face-to-face classes in different places.

Finally, we should expect that many more people will live their lives in a virtual world. With the rise of popularity in cryptocurrency, social media, and the metaverse, it would only make sense to assume that more people will live their lives in a virtual world. Think about it this way, we’ve been cooped up for far too long in our homes, it wouldn’t be surprising to learn that the next generation will be much more dependent on their digital technology than generations past.

5 of the Healthy Ways To Welcome 2022

5 of the Healthy Ways To Welcome 2022

Aside from a nationalistic perspective, what about you? You probably have a few things New Year things to do, and we’re not here to tell you to set some more; in fact, feel free to take this year off. You don’t need to make drastic changes to your life every single year. I mean, after all, you might prefer making a few simple changes instead of having to set lofty and frequently overly ambitious goals that many people set for themselves.

So instead of setting your sights on some insane sweeping life changes like getting fit, weight loss, or deleting social media, focus on smaller stuff that will improve your future outlook. Check out the list we have below for you:

Set Realistic Goals

Many of us start the new year with huge, extremely vague goals like “work out more” or “eat healthier”. The problem with goals like these is: they’re less likely to stick than more specific, manageable ones, like if you were to set specific time frames or quantifiable measurable stuff. Take for example, the goal of “working out more”. Instead of being vague and general, try instead to schedule three visits to the gym per week or replace cookies with fruit for dessert, according to the American Psychological Association. If you can actually keep up and quantify your resolutions, you’re much more likely to create healthier habits.

Go For A Walk

Go For A Walk

One such example of a specific goal that you could start doing is to start walking for 30 minutes on a daily basis. Daily walking increases metabolism by burning extra calories and by preventing muscle loss, which is extremely important especially as we get older. Walking can lessen your risk of type 2 diabetes, lower your blood pressure, and ward off cardiovascular issues.

Make Anti-Resolutions

If you don’t want to do something new this year, don’t worry. We’ve also got something in store for you. Let’s talk about anti-resolutions.

Not everyone wants to start the new year with something new, maybe they’re already loving their lives, who knows? Everyone does, however, have insecurities and obligations that they wish they didn’t have. Anti-resolutions are the solution to that.

An anti-resolution is simply the act of stopping something you no longer want to do this year. If you have any regretful responsibilities, now’s the time to start saying no – you’ll come out a more happier individual because of it.

Start Preparing Your Own Meals

Start Preparing Your Own Meals

Meal prep is probably one of the most popular new year’s resolutions out there. “I want to start eating healthier this year”, you tell yourself every year. 3 months in and you find yourself eating the same unhealthy food you’ve been eating for half your life.

That’s when meal preparation comes into play. When you prepare your own meals, you have more control over the ingredients. By cooking for yourself, you can absolutely ensure that you and your family eat fresh, wholesome meals. You have utter certainty because you prepared it yourself. While difficult when you’re only starting out, the long-run benefits are undeniable: you start to look and feel healthier, boost your energy, stabilize your weight and mood, as well as improve your sleep and resilience to stress. Start taking on a new life path with meal prep.

Trying on the New Forms of Self-Care

Let’s face it. The same resolution every year can get boring. If you keep telling yourself that you’ll start working out this year, what are the chances of it actually happening? Especially when you know that you tried and failed last year.

That’s why, instead of focusing solely on one or two types of self-care, we challenge you to take action by setting aside 5 to 60 minutes each week to try out a new self-care practice. This self-care practice can be whatever you want it to be: whether a new book, exercise, sitting in nature, or meditation while sipping a drink, even treating yourself to whatever purchase you want may it be small like a new shirt or a huge investment like owning a house and lot for sale. Whatever the case may be, try a new one out every week and, by the end of the year, you’ll have tried out 52 new self-care practices! Awesome, right?

How To Celebrate The New Year Safely

How To Celebrate The New Year Safely

New Year’s Eve is a festive occasions for many Filipino families, Filipinos always manage to put their own twist and it’s quite honestly the perfect time to bond with family and friends. People, however, often forget that safety should also always be the first priority – if not only to make sure that each Filipino family greets the new year at the peak of health and happiness, safety should always be a top priority in everyone’s mind.

Here are a couple tips to make sure that you stay safe even in a new house and lot for sale you call youe new home during the new year:

Avoid Fireworks

A decade ago, Filipinos would have considered fireworks to be synonymous with New Year’s Eve. However, we are reminded every year by the Department of Health that lighting fireworks can often lead to spending New Year’s Eve at the hospital if you’re not careful. Thankfully, people have seem to have gotten the message. In fact, the Department of Health has reported that there have been an 80% drop in firecracker-related injuries because of this newfound awareness. So if you don’t want to spend the New Year in the emergency room, it would be best to stay away from fireworks.

Watching What You Eat

More often than not, Noche Buena will have dozens of delicious platters available to you and this isn’t just a danger to your short-term diet, it could also be a long-term danger to your health.

So, especially if you have any underlying medical conditions, avoid overindulging in fatty and sugary foods. You have other options as well. If you don’t want to get sick or any possible food allergies, you might want to prepare ahead by cooking or ordering meals with plenty of vegetables and fiber.

Don’t Drink And Drive

It doesn’t take a lot to remember to stop drinking and driving. If you’re going to go out to celebrate and drink, make sure that you’ve arranged for a designated driver, taxi, or car hire service. Holiday traffic and alcohol intoxication don’t mix well. When the two are combined, you’re so much more likely to have accidents that you certainly don’t want to deal with at the start of a new year.

So, just to be on the safe side, drink moderately. There’s no need to take on so much risk and there’s no need to be incredibly wasted on New Year’s Day. Calm down and have fun.

Stay Alert On Your Surroundings

Whether you’re going out or staying home, you should always remain vigilant and aware of what’s going on around you. If you’re celebrating away from home, just make sure that you’re keeping your head on a swivel and your common sense nearby. Make sure that your friends or family stick close to each other so as not to lose anyone in the crowd. This hold especially true when you’re out and about and drinking.

Make sure to keep your phone and wallet secure and try not to go anywhere alone. Remember, crime doesn’t take holidays off.

The best piece of advice that you could have, then, is to jus use your common sense about you. Just because it’s the new year, doesn’t mean that you have to take on any insane risks. This isn’t your first rodeo so why do something that you wouldn’t normally do on an average day just because it’s the new year?
